Biography

Dr. E.I.Kalamiyets is a recognized expert in the field of microbial synthesis. Major trends of her research are genesis of biologically active compounds showing antimicrobial and entomopathogenic action, elaboration of biotechnologies aimed at producing novel efficient microbial agents to control crop pests and pathogens. Progress of priority trends in microbiology and biotechnology is fostering food, energy, drug and ecological security of Belarus Republic. Under her supervision and with direct contribution collection of microbial antagonists promising sources of biopesticides and probiotic preparations was founded. Dr. E.I. Kalamiyets deciphered mechanisms controlling interaction of isolated cultures with animal and plant pathogens, established the nature of produced antimicrobial metabolites and proposed original technologies of producing microbial preparations with phytoprotective, disinfecting, growth-and immune-stimulating activities. Vital achievement of Dr. E.I. Kalamiyets is realization of innovative processes and launching of pilot-plant manufacturing of biopesticides Fruitin, Phyroprotectin, Baciturin to control pests and pathologies in plant cultivars at Novopolotsk protein-vitamin concentrate plant and large-scale fabrication of bioconservating agent Lacsil intended for ensiling of vegetable feedstock. Dr. E.I. Kalamiyets is an author of 341 publications, including 2 books, 11 patents. 9 original products and related technologies were scaled up to industrial level, manufactured and commercially distributed at the market. As coordinator of three national research programs, member of State Expert Council on chemical, pharmaceutical and microbiological industries, general director of Scientific and Production association "Chemical synthesis and biotechnologies" functioning within the framework of National Academy of Sciences, Dr. E.I. Kalamiyets is directly contributing into progress of biotechnology in the Republic of Belarus
